Brands plan their big moments months ahead. If you pitch a Mother's Day idea in March, you're too late; if you pitch it in December, you might be the first. Here's the UK marketing calendar for 2027, with the dates that matter and when to start the conversation.

Rule of thumb: pitch at least two to three months before a moment for small brands, and well before that for big ones. Big national campaigns are often planned six months or more ahead. These are typical patterns, not rules.

The 2027 dates

  • January sales and "new year" (from 1 January). Pitch in October and November.
  • Burns Night, 25 January: Scottish food and drink brands. Pitch in the autumn.
  • Valentine's Day, Sunday 14 February. Gifting, flowers, food and hospitality. Pitch by early November.
  • St David's Day, 1 March, and St Patrick's Day, 17 March: Welsh, Irish and Northern Irish brands lean into these.
  • Mother's Day, Sunday 7 March 2027. The UK date is earlier than the US one and catches people out. Gifting brands plan soon after Christmas, so pitch in November or December.
  • Easter, Sunday 28 March 2027. Chocolate, food, retail and family days out. Pitch before Christmas.
  • Father's Day, Sunday 20 June 2027. Pitch in February and March.
  • Summer. Scottish schools break up earlier than schools in England and Wales, so summer campaigns in Scotland start sooner. Pitch summer ideas in the spring.
  • Back to school. Scottish schools go back in mid-August, ahead of the rest of the UK. Uniform, stationery, tech and food brands plan in spring.
  • Halloween, 31 October. Pitch in the summer.
  • Black Friday, 26 November 2027, and St Andrew's Day, 30 November. Black Friday creative is planned from late summer.
  • Christmas. Big brands plan in spring and summer; small brands into the autumn. More in is October too late to pitch Christmas?

How to use the calendar

  • Pick three or four moments that fit your work and the brands you want, rather than chasing all of them.
  • Put the pitch dates in your diary now, not the event dates.
  • Lead with one idea for that moment, tied to the brand. "A Mother's Day gifting shoot for your new range" beats "I'm available for seasonal work".
  • Combine it with signals. A brand that has just hired a marketing lead or raised money, ahead of a big seasonal moment, is the best of both. See the best time to pitch a brand.
